Photography: the smell of a dark room and print, that which stimulates the senses which take me back to my childhood. My father was, and still is a keen photographer. The camera was a part of our childhood and everything we achieved was underwritten with print. The memories recorded forever, a fraction of a second in time but the value of which can never be quantified. The desire to follow in my father's steps did not start to bear fruit until I was 28. The first tentative steps were not great, but as the years passed my passion and enthusiasm for capturing the world increased exponentially. The natural world allows me to remove myself from the day to day reality of city life. Witnessing the interaction of the elements in the landscape and capturing fleeting moments of light on land, of cloud on mountain and of sea on rocks, is the inspiration. It is a juxtaposition from the wedding photography, although I would not have one without the other as they both bring me great satisfaction and a sense of achievement.
As I develop in my understanding of the natural world and photography, the aim is to bring my story to book. The development of a body of work is ultimately that which separates good photographers from excellent photographers. This is not a short journey. It has to be visually appealing to the viewer and have an underlying story to make it work. It would be great if you could follow me on this journey.
